DreamCarXchange is thrilled to present this iconic 2000 BMW M5 for auction. This E39 M5 comes with the standard 6-speed manual transmission and is finished in Jet Black over Black leather interior. The clean CARFAX shows it was originally sold in California and then moved to Colorado in 2008 before coming to Washington in early 2021. The selling dealer states that it has an aftermarket exhaust. It currently shows 123k miles and is being sold with the original window sticker, updated OEM head unit (not currently installed) and a clean Washington title.
The heart of this super sedan is the 4.9-liter naturally aspirated V-8 (the S62) that was rated by BMW at 400 hp @ 6600 rpm and 369 lb-ft of torque at 3800 rpm, with a redline at 7,000 rpm. It is mated with a 6-speed manual transmission that drives the rear wheels which resulted in a sub-five second 0-60 times as reported by publications when new.
This E39 is equipped with the All Leather option, which featured NAPPA Heritage Leather in Black with wood trim. The All Leather option covers a significant portion of the interior with ultra-soft NAPPA Heritage: Seat Side areas, Back sides of seats, Head restraint centers and sides, Door-panel inserts, Door-panels, Door armrests/pulls, Door Ledges, Main dash areas, Glove-compartment door, along with the Center console and armrest. The upper dash areas and lower B-pillar are the more durable, “grainier” standard NAPPA leather. The rear parcel shelf as well as the Headliner (including the A, Upper B, and C-pillar) are covered in ALCANTARA (optional on 2000 M5’s).
Here is a quick walk-around video with the car at idle:
The selling dealer notes that it is a fine driver’s example with a few issues that include:
– Currently installed radio unit not functioning (updated OEM head unit is included with the sale)
– Fuel filler cap is incorrect for the car, leading to an error code condition where it thinks the fuel cap is open
– Door locks are sticky and sometimes don’t all close
– Battery is dead in the single key
– Shift knob is loose and can be removed from the shifter by pulling upward.
The car is mostly stock with the exception of tinted side/rear windows and an aftermarket exhaust.
The factory 18″ Style 65 Double Spoke wheels that show some imperfections are present on the car, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires.
The car comes with the original window sticker showing a MSRP of $72,070 along with the previously mentioned replacement upgraded OEM head unit.
The selling dealer has provided over 120 pictures in total, all available in the “Pictures” tab above for your viewing, along with the clean CARFAX that also highlights some of the maintenance history the car has received can be downloaded from the table in the top right of the listing. Best of luck bidding on this iconic M sports sedan!
