DreamCarXchange is pleased to share this 2009 Porsche Cayman S 6-speed. This 987.2 Cayman S is finished in Meteor Grey and has Carrera Red Full leather interior. The CARFAX shows it was originally registered in New Jersey, where it spent its entire life. The most recent owner enhanced the car with both performance and cosmetic modifications such as a Carnewal exhaust, clear side markers, a new head unit with Bluetooth. It currently shows 74k miles and is being sold with a clean New Jersey title.
The Caymans S was introduced in the 2006 model year to much acclaim and had a mid-cycle refresh in 2009 (the 987.2) that included updated front lights with LED daytime running lights and bumper cover, rear bumper and LED rear lights, recalibrated springs and shocks, updated radio/HVAC control and most importantly an all new engine that no longer uses an intermediate shaft (IMS) bearing, alleviating any IMS-related concerns.
The interior is finished the stunning optional Carrera Red full leather and has additional options such as heated seats and a multi-function steering wheel. The selling dealer states the interior to be average to above average condition given the year/mileage with some wear on the e-brake handle and typical wear to the soft paint areas of the center console, which is common with Caymans, Boxsters and 911s of this vintage.
The all-new 3.4 liter flat six cylinder DFI (Direct Fuel Injection) engine is mounted behind the passenger seats that generated 320 hp @ 7200 rpm and 273 lb-ft of torque @ 4400 rpms when new. The use of direct fuel injection allows for higher compression which means more power and more fuel efficiency (best of both worlds!). The power is fed to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.
Modifications on this car include a Carnewal exhaust (sounds great!) front and rear wheel spacers, clear side markers, interior LED lights, a new head unit with Bluetooth with remote and built-in controls in the rearview mirror and lower center console for a Valentine One radar detector. The original lug nuts, amber side markers, incandescent interior bulbs and radio unit are all included with the car.
The car has significant maintenance history with invoices from 2012 though current. Most notable items include:
- June 2021 @ 74k miles: Oil & filter change, belt tensioner, repaired sagging headliner, replace high pressure fuel pump
- April 2019 @ 70k miles: New mass air flow sensor, installed six new spark plugs and ignition coils, new vacuum pump, oil & filter change
- Sept 2018 @ 69k miles: Installed four new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires
- Mar 2018 @ 67k miles: Installed air filter, cabin filter, serpentine belt, front brake rotors and pads, brake fluid change
- Jan 2016 @ 53k miles: Installed new clutch, flywheel, release bearing and slave cylinder, rear brake discs, pads and sensors
- Oct 2014 @ 45k miles: Replaced shifter cable
- Sept 2012 @ 31k miles: Replaced left rear axle and hardware
In addition, the most recent owner has installed a few interior items such as new floor mats, shift knob/boot and door sills.
The selling dealer states that everything works and drives as it should, though both keys have broken lock/unlock buttons. They both function properly however they do have clear tape on that button (see picture above with spare parts/radio). The CARFAX can be downloaded in the table above and indicates accidents in August 2014 and May 2016 shown as the front and left front respectively. A photo of the front bumper cover damage after it was removed from the car from the second incident can be found in the picture gallery.
The optional 19″ Turbo wheels that have been painted grey to match the car. All four wheels have minor chipping of the paint but are said to present very well. Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires sized 235/35/19 up front and 265/35/19 in the rear. All have manufacturer date codes of 1818 and were mounted 5k miles ago in September 2018.
The selling dealer is open to trade-ins on this Cayman S, so if you have a vehicle that you would like to trade-in as part or all of your bid, click the “trade-in” button towards the top of the page to begin a private negotiation with the selling dealer regarding your trade-in vehicle and value. There is a comprehensive set of 70+ pictures available in the “Pictures” tab above for your viewing. Best of luck bidding on this sought after 987.2 Cayman S!

can you speak about the switch and other things that are in front of the gear shift lever?
Absolutely. The rear view mirror is the Valentine one radar mirror display, the knob below the shifter toggles the mirror display on and off. The switch to the right of the knob was to a front license plate hider that had been removed by the most recent owner.
