DreamCarXchange is pleased to offer up for bid this 2002 Porsche Boxster S. This 986 S is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission and is finished in Basalt Black over Savannah Beige and a Black soft-top with heated rear glass window. It was originally sold by Pepe Infiniti Porsche in White Plains, NY in July 2002 then moved to Long Island, NY where it stayed until it was traded into the selling dealer earlier this year. The previous owner purchased the car in 2009 when it had 47k miles on it, it now shows just over 63k miles. The IMS bearing was updated with a LN Engineering bearing along with the clutch at 50k miles. It has a clean CARFAX and is being sold with a clean New Jersey title.
This example has a Savannah Beige interior and is came optioned with PSM (Porsche Stability Management), the Sport Package (Wind stop, Hi-Fi Sound System, Cruise control, and AM/FM-CD player in dash) and Metallic paint.
The 986S Boxsters comes equipped with the 3.2 liter flat 6 engine, rated by Porsche at 250 hp @ 6250 rpm and 225 lb-ft of torque @ 4500 rpm, with a redline of 7200 rpms. This is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.
The wheels on this Boxster are the standard 17″ Boxster S wheels and currently wear Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires sized 205/5017 and 255/40/17 with mfr date codes of 1819, installed in June 2019.
In 2018, the previous owner replaced the original convertible top with a German A5 top with heated rear glass, replacing the vinyl rear window that comes with the pre-2003 Boxsters.
Powertech in Rockaway, NJ inspected the car after the selling dealer’s purchase and completed the Bid with Confidence Inspection Report which can be found in the above tab. The seller notes that the car drives and presents itself well with a few blemishes as pointed out in some pictures in addition to some normal wear such as rock chips. The seller also notes that the floor mats and the passenger side rollover hoop screen are missing.
The CARFAX indicates that this Boxster S has been maintained throughout its life by Porsche dealerships and specialist shops. Below are a few of the highlights of its extensive service history from the CARFAX and invoices:
- July 2019 at 61k miles: Oil and filter changed, front and rear brake pads replaced, brake fluid flush, mount new tires
- May 2018: New German A5 top with heated rear glass installed
- June 2014 at 50k miles: LN Engineering IMS bearing update, new clutch, oil and filter change, air filter, 6 spark plugs and coils, new water pump and thermostat, new air/oil separator, new drive belt, new rear main seal, replaced cabin filter, magnetic drain plug ($9,363 invoice)
- June 2006: 30k service completed
- December 2004: 15k service completed
This 986S has a clean CARFAX, which can be downloaded from the Key Specifications table above and make sure you check out the additional pictures found in the “Pictures” tab above. The selling dealer is charging $0.00 for documentation or other fees.
The seller is open to trade-ins on this Boxster, so if you have a car that you would like to trade-in as part or all of your bid, click the “trade-in” button towards the top of the page to begin a private negotiation with the selling dealer regarding your trade-in vehicle and value. Good luck bidding!
If you are in the market for a first generation Boxster S, this is the one to have! Low mileage, LN Engineering IMS bearing update and clutch and a new German fabric top with heated glass window. Maintenance records back to 2009. Four new tires and pads all around in 2019. Recent trade in on a 981 Boxster GTS from owner that had it since 2009.
