How much does it cost to list my DreamCar?

There is no listing fee if you choose a No Reserve auction with DreamCarXchange. It only costs $95 to list a DreamCar if you choose to auction with a reserve.

How do I sell my DreamCar on DCX?

It's simple! Just click on the "Sell a DreamCar" in the toolbar to begin. If you have not previously provided your payment information to DCX in the past, it will ask you to do so now. Then answer the questions/provide the information requested (including if you would like a reserve and the reserve amount), upload photos and videos, then one of DCX's Auction Designers will review and potentially ask questions about the car/your reserve amount. Once the Designer is satisfied and agree to the reserve, they will approve your DreamCar for listing. At this point you will be charged for the listing fee. The Auction Designer will then construct your ad. During construction, they may ask you questions or request additional information. After the draft ad is complete, it will be sent to you for your review and approval. If you have suggested changes to the draft, you will then communicate them to the Auction Designer. Once you are happy with the ad, you then approve and it goes to be scheduled. We will notify you when the auction goes live!

Please note that not all Dream Cars submitted will be approved for listing on DCX, as they may not be viewed as an "Enthusiasts Car" by DCX or DCX may not agree to your reserve price.

How is the seller's status determined?

We believe in rewarding our loyal selling members by decreasing the buyer's fees associated with their listings.  A seller's status is determined by how many DreamCars they list for auction or trade on the DCX site.  The more DreamCars they list, the lower buyer fee % are associated with their listings:

- Pony Car:  1-3 Auction/Trade listings per calendar year
- Prancing Horse:  4-7 Auction/Trade listings per calendar year
- Raging Bull:  8 or more Auction/Trade listings per calendar year

Once a seller hits a status within the calendar year, they will remain at that status level for the remainder of that calendar year AND the following calendar year.

How do I get the most money for my DreamCar?

To get the most out of your DreamCar, there are numerous things you can do as the seller to increase the value of your vehicle:
- Provide as much documentation to "tell the story" of your DreamCar. This includes maintenance records, the Bid With Confidence Inspection Report, Window Sticker/build sheet, Manuals/Books that came with the car, original bills of sale (particularly for older DreamCars) etc.
- Make sure your DreamCar is thoroughly clean in and out before taking pictures, putting in a little more elbow grease or money will go a long way to how your vehicle presents itself.
- Provide high quality and numerous pictures and videos of your DreamCar, this has a huge impact on bidders.
- Ensure maintenance is up to date. If it is not, potential buyers will wonder what else may not have been done.
- Depending on the car, it may be beneficial to remove aftermarket items to bring the car back to stock.
- Documentation to provide authenticity if it is a "matching numbers" car. This includes things like a Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche, a tank sheet from a vintage Corvette, etc.
- Be a responsive, active seller. Utilize the comments functionality to engage with the community and potential buyers, and answer questions quickly and thoroughly.
- Be honest when submitting information and answering questions.
- Do not share the reserve price!

If I am open to trade-ins during my DreamCar auction, how does that work?

The key to this is assessing and agreeing to the value of the DreamCar being traded in. Therefore, for those buyers that are looking to trade their Dream Car in, we require them to provide the same level of information and pictures as if they were auctioning it. This provides the seller the same transparency they are providing on the DreamCar they are selling.
• Auctions in which sellers are open to trade-ins as part/all of the bid will be listed for 14 days to allow more time for seller/buyer to assess/agree to the value of potential trade-in. In addition, the seller will indicate what types of DreamCars they would be interested in as a trade-in, to ensure that we don't waste buyers/seller's time on cars they are not interested in.
- When there is an interested buyer with a trade-in, the buyer clicks on the page and provides DCX information, pictures, videos etc. and DCX will craft a high-level ad for the buyer and send it privately to the seller. Note, part of this information provided by the buyer is an estimated value of the trade-in.
• If the seller responds positively to the trade-in and would like more information and to engage further with the potential buyer, DCX will collect additional information from the potential buyer and DCX will construct the more detailed ad (similar to seller’s ad) for the seller’s private consideration. NOTE: This additional information needs to be provided to DCX no later than 7 days prior to the auction end. The potential buyer will then be billed an additional $95 for the detailed ad. The potential buyer has the option to then have DCX list this in the Trade a DreamCar section at no additional cost.
• The seller and buyer then will negotiate the trade-in value privately via the DCX site.
• If the buyer and seller arrive at an agreed value for your trade-in prior to the deadline of 24 hours before the auction closes, and this buyer is the winning bidder, the trade-in value agreed between the buyer and seller will be applied to the purchase price.
• If you can not come to agreement on the trade-in value, then the bidder is still able to bid on the car without the trade-in.

What happens after the auction is complete?

If the reserve on your DreamCar was met, DCX will provide you with the contact information of the highest bidder. At this point, you and the buyer complete the transaction between one another.
If the reserve is not met, we will contact the three highest bidders to ask for them to provide a best and final offer within 24 hours for you to consider. Note: DCX reserves the right to reduce the buyer fee we collect in order for the seller’s reserve to be met and the Dream Car sold.
- You will have 24 hours from then to decide on whether to accept the highest bid. If you do, we will provide you the contact information of the buyer.
- If you do not accept the high bid, then the DreamCar will go unsold. Note: DCX reserves the right to reduce the buyer fee we collect in order for the seller’s reserve to be met and the DreamCar sold
Keep in mind, that on DCX we help buyers and sellers agree to a price for their Dream Car. The transfer of funds, title and vehicle occurs off-line, between the buyer and seller.

What is a "Bid with Confidence Inspection Report"?

A Bid with Confidence Inspection report is a tool that provides greater transparancey to potential buyers of the condition of a DreamCar that is listed. It is a simple yet comprehensive inspection report that the seller provides to their local shop (it is in the seller's best interest to choose a shop that knows that Make/model well) to complete after an inspection of their vehicle. This benefits the seller significantly for a simple reason, it reduces the buyer's risk. The less "unknowns" of a DreamCar, the more confidence the bidders have in the vehicle, resulting in higher bids for the seller. The cost for the inspection will vary by geography, make, depth of inspection (inclusive of paint meter readings, DME scans, leakdown tests, etc.) but generally cost between $150-$350.

Can I raise or lower my reserve once the auction is live?

You may lower the reserve at anytime by clicking the "Lower my Reserve" button on your Auction page. Once the auction is live, you can not raise the reserve price.

What is a "No Reserve" auction and is there an advantage to offering my DreamCar at no reserve?

A No Reserve auction means that the highest bidder at the end of the auction wins the auction, no matter how much the high bid is. And yes, there is an advantage to selling at No Reserve. The main seller advantage of a No Reserve auction will quite often generate more buyer interest because the bidders know that the vehicle is definitely selling (vs. a reserve auction may not have bids meet the reserve). If a vehicle is guaranteed to sell, this increases the number of interested bidders.... The greater the number of bidders, the greater the number of bids (and competition), which results in higher prices. Think of it from a supply and demand standpoint, the supply is fixed (one DreamCar), the more demand (bidders), the higher the resulting price will be. In addtion, the buyer fee for a No Reserve Auction we refer to as a "Inline 6" and is only 3.00% which is lower than any DCX auctions with a reserve.

Can I sell my car off-line from the auction?

No, DCX's auctions are exclusive. However sellers are encouraged to advertise your auction on other sites. Just keep in mind that it should point them to the DreamCarXchange site only. If ads with asking prices or "best offer" are found elsewhere for your DreamCar, we will ask the seller to pull them down. If the seller refuses or we see this behavior repeat, we will cancel the auction and no longer allow that seller to participate in the DCX community.

Any tips on uploading pictures?

Picture sizes should be 900px (H) * 1600px (W) and are limited to less than 500 KB in size. We suggest uploading no more than 10-15 pictures at a time to ensure they load properly. Remember, avoid photographing your DreamCar in direct sunlight!

What happens after the auction/listing is complete and my DreamCar as sold?

Assuming that it is a no reserve auction or the reserve was met, you will receive an email with the buyer's contact information, and we will send the buyer your information as well. You then agree to the payment method (such as a wire transfer after both parties sign a purchase agreement and a copy of the title is provided to the buyer), arrange title transfer, shipping, etc.

How do I bid?

Once you have found your DreamCar, then simply input your bid amount and click the "Bid" button. If we do not have your payment information already, you will be redirected to that page. Note that once you place a bid, your credit card will have a hold for the buyer's fee $ of your bid amount. You may bid as many times as you want, though your bid must be higher than the current bid plus the minimum bid increment. At the end of the auction, if you are not the winning bidder, your hold will be released typically within the next couple of business days. How does the buyer's fee work and how much is it?

The buyer’s fee is a % of the winning bid and is the fee paid to DCX on top of the bid price. To incentivize sellers, we have a flat buyer fee of only 3.00% for no reserve auctions.
For reserve auctions, we believe in rewarding those that frequent our site, therefore the buyer fee % for each auction varies depending on the particular seller’s status:
- Pony Car: 5.00%
- Prancing Horse: 4.497 %
- Raging Bull: 3.909%
Regardless of the %, all buyer fees max out on bids of $100,000 meaning all bids above $100,000 will have the same buyer fee as a $100k bid. For example, the buyer fee on a no-reserve car with a high bid of $150,000 is only $3000, this really lowers the total cost of high value vehicles!

How do I get my DreamCar to me?

If your DreamCar is not local, there are plenty of shipping options available. You can drive to pick it up yourself, you can bring a trailer to pick it up, you can also have it transported to you. Check out our Sponsors Page <Insert Link> for some transporter suggestions.

How can I ask the seller a question

Click on "Ask the Seller" button and it type in your question. The question will be posted in the Comments and Questions tab. The seller will be notified that a question is awaiting them. Once they answer, the question will be posted. If you would like to contact the seller privately, click the "Contact Seller Privately" button and you can contact the seller via email.

What is the "Ask an Expert" feature?

This allows a registered bidder to ask our marques experts a question about the DreamCar being auctioned. This may be to confirm if something came from the factory as such, etc. This is a courtesy service that DCX provides to bidders. If you as a registered bidder have a question, simply click the "Ask an Expert" button and ask your question. Our expert for that make DreamCar will be notified of the question and answer it (typically within 24 hours). The question and answer will be posted in the "Ask an Expert" tab. Note that DCX is limiting the number of questions to one (1) per DreamCar and that we do not have experts for all marques. If we do not have one for the marque of a specific DreamCar, the "Ask an Expert" button will not be present. This allows a registered bidder to ask our marques experts a question about the DreamCar being auctioned. Can I look at the DreamCar or have it inspected?

Absolutely! Contact the seller by clicking on the "Ask the Seller" button to inquire and arrange a viewing or setting up a PPI (Pre-Purchase Inspection). Keep in mind any inspection need to be done BEFORE the auction closes, as your bids are binding and NOT contingent on viewing/having a PPI done after the listing is complete. You can do so even if the seller has a Bid with Confidence Inspection Report as part of the listing.

Can I cancel a bid after I place it?

No, you can not cancel a bid once it is submitted. Please ensure that your bid is correct and you are able to follow through if that bid becomes the winning bid. Retracting bids during the auction damages the integrity of the auction.

How much does it cost to list my DreamCar?

It only costs $95 to list a vehicle with DreamCarXchange.

How do I get my DreamCar on DCX to trade?

It's simple! Just click on the "Trade you DreamCar" in the "Wanna Trade?" header in the toolbar to begin. If you have not previously provided your payment information to DCX in the past, it will ask you to do so now. Then answer the questions/provide the information requested (including identifying what cars you would be interested in trading for), upload photos and videos, then one of DCX's Ad Designers will review and approve your Dream Car. The Ad Designer will then constuct your ad. During construction, they may ask you questions or request additional information. Once the draft ad is complete, it will be sent to you for your review and approval. If you have suggested changes to the draft, you will then communicate them to the Ad Designer. Once you are happy with the ad, you then approve and it goes to be scheduled. Once scheduled, we will notify you that the ad is now live and will be listed for 21 days.

How does Trading my DreamCar work with DreamCarXchange?

Using this service your DreamCar is not being auctioned, but is posted in our "Wanna Trade?” section for a period of 21 days. The key to this is assessing and agreeing to the value of the DreamCars being traded in. Therefore, for those buyers that are looking to trade their Dream Car in, we require them to provide the same level of information and pictures as if they were offering their car for trade. This provides the seller the same transparency they are providing on the DreamCar they are selling.
• The set-up for the seller is identical to those selling via an Auction, where the seller provides information, pictures videos, what cars they are interested in as a trade, etc. If DCX agrees to list the DreamCar for trade, a $95 listing fee will be billed to the seller.
• DCX prepares a draft ad, and the seller approves before it is listed.
• When there is an interested buyer, the buyer clicks on the page and provides DCX with basic information, pictures, videos etc. and DCX will craft a high-level ad for the buyer and send it privately to the seller.
The potential buyer will then be billed an additional $95 for the detailed ad. The potenial buyer has the option to then have DCX list this in the Trade a DreamCar section at no additional cost.
• The seller and buyer then will negotiate the trade-in value privately via the DCX site.
• If the buyer and the seller agree to the terms for the trade-in, the seller and buyer each press the “Trade My DreamCar” button. The buyer will be billed the buyer’s fee, based on the average of the seller’s and buyer’s estimated values of their DreamCars.
• If the buyer and seller can not come to agreement on the trade, the buyer can use the same ad to respond to other DreamCar trades for up to 3 months.
• Note: If a seller have a current listing on the “DreamCar Trades Only” and sees another listing they are interested in, we will use the existing listing to present to the seller whose car they are interested in, no additional ad fee will be charged.

What are the fees to a "Buyer" when trading a DreamCar?

If you see a "For Trade" ad you are interested in and would like to respond, there is no fee for DCX to create a high-level response ad for your trade. If the seller is interested in your car after review of that high-level ad, we would then construct a detailed ad (similar to the seller's ad) and you will be charged a $95 fee. If you and the seller agree to trade, you as the buyer will be billed a buyer’s fee, based on the average of the seller’s and buyer’s estimated values of their DreamCars. The percentage of buyer fee will be based the seller's status:
- Pony Car: 5.00%
- Prancing Horse: 4.497 %
- Raging Bull: 3.909%
Regardless of the %, all buyer fees max out on a value of $100,000 meaning all values above $100,000 will have the same buyer fee as a $100k Dream Car.

The less unknowns of a DreamCar, the more confidence the bidders have in the vehicle, resulting in higher bids for the seller. The cost for the inspection will vary by geography, make, depth of inspection (inclusive of paint meter readings, DME scans, leakdown tests, etc.) but generally cost between $150-$350.

Can I look at the DreamCar or have it inspected before agreeing to a trade?

Absolutely! While in negotiations with the seller, inquire and arrange a viewing or setting up a PPI (Pre-Purchase Inspection). Keep in mind any inspection need to be done BEFORE you and the seller come to an agreement. You can do so even if the seller has a Bid with Confidence Inspection Report as part of the listing.

What happens after I agree to a trade with a seller?

DCX will send you an email with the seller's contact information, and we will send the seller your information as well. You then agree to the payment method for any monetary difference agreed (we suggest a wire transfer after both parties sign a purchase agreement and a copy of the titles are provided to one another), arrange title transfer, shipping, etc.

How does the "Would You Rather…." Bracket game work?

The premise of "Would you Rather…" is simple, have fun comparing cool cars to one another! It is all about which car you like best... Don't think about how much they are worth, how much they are to maintain, etc. Just which one do you like better. Simply agree to participate and click on the open tournament bracket to begin. Complete your entire bracket and answer the tie-breaker question after your finalist is selected. Don't forget to post some comments about the cars/matchup, they are available on the voting page for each one of the matchups! You can change your bracket until the bracket is closed. Once it closes, the system calculates the voting percentage for each vehicle. The vehicle with the higher percentage, goes on to the next round. If you selected that car, then you get a point!
As we progress through the bracket, you receive one point for each vehicle you choose that the majority of DCX community chooses as well. Each subsequent round will be weighted more, so if you predict the correct car in later rounds, you will receive more points than in earlier rounds. We will publish the results of the match-ups at various times, we will send email notifications to those that participated so when they are published you can see how you did and how you are scoring.
The player with the highest score (and winner of the tie-breaker, if needed) at the end is the winner! As a reward, DCX will send a cool gift to the winner!!!

How does the "What'll it Go For?" work?

Whenever the founders of DCX saw an interesting vehicle being auctioned online or on TV, we would text each other and ask "What'll it Go For?"  We do this so frequently, we thought it would be fun to formalize it amoungst the entire DCX community.  We will select certain DreamCars which we will ask the community to guess what the high bid will be.  The guesses will be kept blind until the auction closes in order to not influence the outcome of the auction itself.  We will then share the results and send a cool gift to the winner as the best auction estimator!!!
